Anxiously Awaiting Berlin

LinkedIn

Hello! My name is Emma Huckins and I am finishing up my Sophomore year as a Supply Chain Management and Finance student in the College of Business Administration. At Pitt I am the President of Women in Business and heavily involved in the professional business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi.

Outside of school, I love dancing, reading, and (like most other students) watching Netflix. I have been doing ballet since I was extremely young, and still love watching live shows today. My favorite kinds of books are mysteries/thrillers, and I am currently watching The Crown on Netflix.

During my time in Berlin this summer, I will be working as a Finance Intern for a company called Sirius Facilities. Sirius’s primary business is renting out both physical and virtual space to other companies to use for office space, conference rooms, etc. This will be my very first internship so I am extremely excited to see what is to come! I chose to intern in Berlin for several reasons. I am extremely passionate about traveling and learning about different areas of the world so I would have been more than happy to intern in any of the locations available to me, however I do not speak any other language so I was narrowed down to Berlin, Dublin, and Prague.

Last summer I was fortunate enough to go on the Freshman Plus3 program for business and engineering students to Augsburg, Germany. After such a great experience in Bavaria, I chose to go back to Germany but this time to Berlin, which is on the opposite end of the country that Augsburg is on. Germany is a prominent country in the business world, so I am looking forward to getting to learn more about both the business and general culture while working this summer, as well as develop my professional skills. I can’t wait to share my upcoming experiences, get to know the students I am traveling with, and read everyone else’s blogs!
