GBI London: Suzie Haberman

My name is Suzie Haberman and I am currently a rising junior studying accounting and human resources management in the College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. I am from Deerfield, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago. Some of my hobbies include running, playing tennis, skiing, and cooking. I could not be more excited about my time in London this summer and I anticipate that it will be an unforgettable and valuable experience. I selected London to study abroad for a number of reasons. For one, I knew it was a hub for business. The International Accounting Issues program that Pitt offered drew me in, as well. The opportunity to take such an interesting class and go on weekly site visits seems incredible. Finally, I admire the city’s diversity, culture, and beauty. Two summers ago, I traveled to London and absolutely fell in love with the city. Upon my arrival home from the UK a few years back, I knew I wanted to return.

This afternoon I received my housing and internship placement, which made me even more eager to be in London. I am very much looking forward to work in the hospitality field with Marriott Hotels and further advance my professional business skills. In addition, I look forward to living in the Earl’s Court neighborhood and meeting other students.  Although I am very thrilled about what the future has in store for me, I am nervous about my adjustment in London and becoming comfortable navigating the city alone. I know that it will take a few days to get acclimated, but once I become accustomed to my new surroundings, I will be ready to embrace each opportunity with open arms.

I can’t wait to share my adventures this summer!!
