Hello, my names Dagmar Seppala and I couldn’t be more excited to be living and interning in London. I am an incoming Junior at the University of Pittsburgh. I am a marketing major in the CBA with a studio art minor and intended digital media certificate. Pitt has had a huge impact on my life and I love staying involved on campus. I am a member of many different organizations including, the Marketing Director of Chi Omega Phi Beta, Club Field Hockey, Women in Business, Studio Photography for Pitt News, and Ski & Snowboard Club. I originally am from the South Shore of Boston. I have lots of Boston Pride and am a wicked big New England sports fan.
As I love traveling and exploring new cultures and meeting new people I knew study abroad was definitely for me. It was hard to narrow down the different opportunities that Pitt Study Abroad offered and had a close decision between Sydney, Copenhagen, and London. Knowing I would love each experience I ultimately chose London for my program because it gave me the opportunity to intern and study simultaneously. I have been to London before when I was 13 years old and instantly fell in love with it here. I remember the magical feeling arriving at Heathrow and getting into a traditional black British taxi cab and riding along the wrong side of the road somehow still feeling so right. I am excited to see what the city now has to offer to my 20 year old self as my passions and interests have evolved over the past years. London is a global financial hub that I could definitely see myself living and working in the future so the next 4 months here are a huge opportunity and trial to get one step closer to my future. I am living centrally in Camden Town which is the historic music and art hub of the city. Music plays a huge role in my life and I know I’ll enjoy the hustle of the unique Camden markets.
I am excited for my first internship to be working as a marketing art studio assistant for a British artist and her collective. It’s incredible that I was interviewed into an internship that combines my major and minor so exclusively. I can’t wait to learn so much working hands on with this internship and look forward to updating you about all my adventures I get up to! Overall I am nervous to meet all the new people in my program having not known anyone studying abroad this semester. I know I’ll miss all of my Pitt friends immensely but I know it’ll be special coming home to them next semester full of new stories.
