Last Days in London

It’s hard to believe that I only have 2 more days left in London before I go home. I am not going to do a look back at my time until I land in the States and really think about the experience as a whole. However, I will catch you all up on what I have been doing the last week in preparation for my departure.

Last week was my final days working with my internship. I was able to sit in on the company meeting where they discussed the future of the company and recapped some of the exciting projects that people were working on. This was extremely interesting as the company is starting to expand and seems to be heading in a really exciting direction. On Wednesday, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the company Christmas party. This was a really fun time and I was able to interact with people in a more relaxed setting. Friday, which was my last day, my team was nice enough to take me out to lunch to thank me for the work I did. Afterwards, I sat down with my supervisor to discuss my experience with the company and he gave me some advice on how to grow as a professional. It was a little sad when I left the office for the last time as I began to really get to know my team members and was starting to take on some really exciting work.

Classes have been a bit stressful as I have been finishing up some papers before the term ends. However, we did have my final class for each of my four courses. I am really going to miss my Post War British Popular Culture class because of my professor, Richard. He was able to make the class exciting and taught his way even if it wasn’t excepted by many teachers. He was able to relate to most of our coursework because he left through it and wasn’t afraid to tell us stories of what being in some of the British subcultures was really like. I can say without any doubt that Richard is the best professor that I’ve ever had. In the last class, we gave presentations on a British song that we had to relate back to one of the subcultures we learned about in class. I gave my presentation on David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel”.

I spent my last weekend in London wandering around all the Christmas markets that are popping up around the city. The picture in my heading is from the Southbank Christmas market that they set up which was really cool. It was also SantaCon this past weekend, which I wasn’t aware of. This was super funny because there were thousands of Santas roaming the streets of London having a good old time.

Unfortunately, my time here in London is coming to an end. I’ll be spending my last couple of days saying goodbye to the friends that I have met throughout this trip and London as a whole.
