Aussie, Aussie, Allison!

Hey there! My name is Allison Koerbel and I am a rising senior here at the University of Pittsburgh. I am majoring in Marketing and also pursuing a certificate in Digital Media.

I like to keep myself VERY busy, and this past year in addition to my classes, I got the opportunity to have two incredible internships. The first one is with a local advertising agency called Smith Brothers, where I help with the media analytics for their clients, focusing mostly with Google and Facebook. In addition, I am also one of the Media Relations interns for the University of Pittsburgh Athletics Department, where I do a little bit of everything. If you happened to grab any of the men’s basketball programs this past season OR follow Pitt Football on Twitter and see the post-practice/game interviews, I’m the girl behind the camera/computer editing and designing those!

During this summer, I chose to participate in the Global Business Institute Program in Sydney, Australia. I picked this specific program for a few reasons. Firstly, I previously attended Syracuse University until my sophomore year. As a transfer student, I did not have the option/time within my course schedule to do a full semester program. Secondly, I have wanted to go to Australia for as long as I can remember, and I cannot think of another opportunity in my life that I can travel and really get to explore Australia for a full six weeks. Lastly, during my trip, I get to partake in an internship abroad.

My internship placement will be with a company called T-E-G, the largest ticketing and entertainment company within Australia (similar to Ticketmaster in America.) They put together various concerts and sporting events around Australia, as well as providing ticketing, analytics, and research for the entertainment and social platforms they work with. I am extremely excited to work within the entertainment industry and compare what I have learned from my experience with college athletics.

I am EXTREMELY excited for my summer adventures and I am counting down the days for it to start. I will be posting about my experiences in the land down under, so stay tuned!!
