Ready for London!

GrivasA1

Hi everyone! My name is Athena Grivas and I am a rising junior who will be going to London at the Global Business Institute. I am from Kennett Square, PA and I just completed my second year at the University of Pittsburgh. I am currently double majoring in Finance and Marketing and getting a minor in Economics. I am also planning to complete a finance internship while abroad.

On campus, I am a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity. Alpha Kappa Psi has helped me become a better business leader. I have been fortunate enough to attend networking events and company site visits. I feel more prepared for my internship and study abroad trip thanks to talking to other brothers that have also studied abroad in London at the Global Business Institute.

I also like to spend my time staying active on campus. I enjoy staying active by involving myself in Pitt’s Club Cross Country team, Triathlon Club, and Ski and Snowboard Club. This is my second year on the Club Cross Country team and Ski Club and my first year trying the Triathlon Club. I always enjoy challenging myself and trying something new. I’m looking forward to running around London. I enjoy exploring cities by running around, but I’m also sure there will be parks I can find if I want to run somewhere quieter.

Deciding to study abroad in London was an easy decision. I have been to London when I was younger and I loved it. When I learned I could study abroad in college I knew London would be the perfect location. I first heard about GBI: London when I toured Pitt. When I met with my advisor for the first time we decided that this would be the perfect trip for me, especially as a finance major. In addition, I feel like six-week study abroad trip is long enough to get a feel for the city and get to travel around Europe, but not long enough to get too homesick. I am really looking forward to completing my internship, taking a class, and exploring a new culture.

I am excited and thankful to be a part of the Global Business Institute. I look forward to learning more about the culture and business opportunities in London in addition to meeting new students. I also look forward to representing the University of Pittsburgh during my time in London.
