Week One. Sleep, none.

So far this week has been a wake-up call to my usual routine in terms of becoming accustomed to a literal 9-5 schedule. Coming from a place where I can stay up into the wee hours of the morning and not having to worry, because I have multiple time slots (and favorite spots) throughout the day that I can indulge for quick cat-nap, It was a challenge to change. The issue wasn’t waking up- that has always been pretty straightforward for me- it was going to sleep early. I couldn’t force myself to silent my brain anytime before midnight. It was just so frustrating to spend my entire day working, then being unable to have enough time to relax by the end of it. At first I kept fighting this building lack of sleep, but by the end of the week I did what I previously thought to be unthinkable: I went to bed at 10:00 PM on a Saturday night. Something I would have laughed at the though of a mere six days previous, I found myself cozily tucked away counting sheep, with the distant sounds of rowdy UCD students coming home lulling me to sleep. I am ready to face this new week with a freshly established routine of waking up two hours before work, cooking myself a fantastic breakfast of eggs, toast, cereal and bananas, and heading to work. I come home from work, cook myself dinner and a lunch for the next day, and get my hour of social media in before bed. That’s not to say I haven’t been enjoying all that Ireland has to offer. This weekend me and three friends had a fantastic excursion to Irelands Eye, a gorgeous island about 40 minutes and a ferry away from city  center. If the Cliffs of Moher are anything close to the view I had at the top of the mountain there, I can honestly say it will be the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. (Sorry Pittsburgh overlook.)
