What’s Next?

Hola Pittsburgh!

My name is Martyn Megaloudis and I am a senior here at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Marketing and Finance (but only Finance if you were to ask my parents).

I am originally from North Plainfield, New Jersey but over the course of the last two years I’ve come to know Pittsburgh as my adopted-home. I am currently 9634.04 miles away from that adopted home because I have chosen to participate in Pitt’s Global Business Institute Program in Sydney, Australia (not to be mistaken with the thriving farmlands of Sydney, North Dakota). While I loved my time in Pittsburgh it began to feel a little too familiar, too comfortable and I began to search for an experience that would challenge me in a new and interesting way.  GBI Sydney fitted this bill perfectly and the prospect of being able to intern abroad more than convinced me to book a flight and chase this opportunity.

When I’m not studying at Pitt I’m the Social Media Chair for the Chi Chapter of the Sigma Pi fraternity, member of Pittsburgh Attacks Cancer Together and an office assistant for the Office of Cross Cultural and Leadership Development. I also love to hike and am a huge fan of both music and cinema. I spend too much in a week actively discovering and consuming new music and movies from around the world.

I will be interning as a Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Unbridled Lty in Sydney which is a business proficiency consultancy company. This is quite the stark contrast from the company I interned for this summer which was a search engine agency by name of Acronym in New York City. At Acronym I was a small cog in an expansive machine, I was given independence but I was also given a structure that made sure I didn’t stray too far off the beaten path. At Unbridled Lty I am not only the only one in the Marketing department, I am the only employee in the company. I have to be truly reliant on my knowledge of Marketing and every facet of this field. It’s a challenge that I am more than ready for and I’m excited to see where this internship will take me professionally.

Studying abroad in Sydney will definitely be a new and exciting challenge for me and one that I am more than ready for. I can’t wait to see what the city of Sydney has to offer. I guess the only question to ask at this point is, what’s next?
