It has been some time since I have returned from Australia now and I am definitely missing it! I had such an amazing trip and met so many new people along the way. Living in Sydney was a once in a lifetime experience and I was so grateful to have the opportunity to grow through Pitt. Being able to take classes and have an internship in a foreign country provided me with a great situation to really learn and immerse myself in the culture of Australia.
Throughout my time in Australia I have definitely grown as a person and a student. Personally, I have made many more friends who I hope to continue to connect with now that the program is over. I’ve learned to adjust to different cultures during my time in Australia and it really helped me grow as a person. Being able to understand and empathize with people from another culture is a very important skill to have in my opinion and I am glad I’ve been able to learn it. Academically and professionally I’ve also learned a lot. Through the classes I took I was able to understand what made Sydney such a special city. I was also able to learn about the history or Sydney and Australia as a whole through classes like Australian literature. My internship while I was abroad was the first I’ve had that’s related to my major so it was really cool to be able to have my first working experience in a foreign country. I was able to learn a lot of life skills in my internship including multitasking and working with different aspects of a business.
Overall I have taken so much away from my experience in Sydney and I’m glad I was able to do it. This program and Sydney have made me new lifelong friends and taught me many lessons throughout my time and I’ll never forget it. I’ll be sure to use the skills I learned in class and in my internship in future jobs and classes. Lastly, I would like to thank the donors who helped by providing scholarships for so many students. These donors are a large reason why so many students get to fulfill their dream of studying in a foreign country.
