Not Ready to Say Goodbye Just Yet

I have one week left in Sydney meaning two more classes, 2 more days at my internship and still so much I want to do! It is finally hitting me that this amazing opportunity is quickly coming to an end and it is so bittersweet. I have experienced so much over this past month and have met some amazing people along the way. I am not ready to say goodbye this Saturday as I head back home to Philadelphia.

I have already touched on my classes and internship in previous blogs, so I want to dedicate this blog to some of the cool things CAPA has set up for us to do. Exactly two weeks ago we slept over at Taronga Zoo. We got a private tour of the zoo, watched the sunrise over all of Sydney from across the harbor, and got to feed the giraffes their breakfast! It was one of the coolest things I have gotten to do in Sydney, and I am so thankful CAPA took us on that trip! Last Friday night I attended the Sydney Swans AFL Game with my sports marketing class. As I mentioned before I am interning with the GWS Giants, the other AFL team in Sydney, but it was still fun to attend another teams game and see how their marketing and game-day activations compared to that of the Giants. Then on Saturday we got to dress up all fancy and go to the Royal Randwick Races. Horse races aren’t too big at home, so it was something I have not really experienced before which made it even more exciting! It was also something almost all of my co-workers recommended doing while in Sydney, so it was awesome we got tickets through CAPA and we’re able to all go together!

For our last weekend in Australia, my roommate Chiara and I decided to travel north to Queensland, Australia to spend the weekend in the Gold Coast! We stayed in Surfers Paradise but explored the Broadbeach area as well. While we were there we took surfing lessons, went to Movie World, and went to Sugar Republic, a pop-up museum! It was a fun filled weekend and im grateful we got to experience another part of Australia before our trip ended!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that followed along my study abroad trip to Sydney, Australia. I will be posting my last blog in about a week once I get home. I am looking forward to really reflecting on this experience, creating a list of things I’ve learned, and it’ll be fun to list all of the differences between Australia and the United States as well! See you then!
