Emerging Area of Information Systems (IS) That You Are Familiar With: Based on the IS-related areas that are identified in these slides, identify one specific emerging area of IS that you already have familiarity and experience with. What is the value added by this area of IS?
I am already familiar with the applications of augmented reality technology. If this is implemented on a widespread scale, it could greatly add to training programs of law enforcement and military officials. Throughout training, augmented reality could be implemented to simulate a life or death situation or a situation where a firearm is required. Therefore, law enforcement and military officials could have real, hands-on experience before having to act through the situation in a real life or death scenario.
Emerging Area of Information Systems (IS) That You Are Less Familiar With/Would Like to Learn More: Based on the IS-related areas that are identified in these slides, identify one specific emerging area of IS that you are less familiar with, but would like to learn more/gain experience with. What is the value added by this area of IS?
I am not very familiar with biometrics. However, if this was implemented into society, it could greatly enhance security among varying levels. It has simple and practical uses—like the new face recognition on the iPhone X where your face is scanned to unlock your phone. But even in situations where a higher degree of security is required, such as secret government compounds, stricter biometric measures can be implemented to recognize hair samples, fingerprints, face recognition, etc. This would create a stronger security network to prevent anything valuable from falling into the wrong hands.
Other Examples Like This?: Based on the IS-related material that you see in these slides, what specific areas do you likely to see as a big part of your career and professional development (i.e. where do you want to gain experience in internships and your first jobs)?
In the accounting world, I can 100% see big data and predictive analysis becoming a huge part of my career. It can be used to create predictive models on a company’s future based off its current standing and its past. It could also be used to create a more detailed analysis of a company, providing more statistics and data to help provide a more accurate consultation.
