Emerging Area of Information Systems (IS) That You Are Familiar With: Based on the IS-related areas that are identified in these slides, identify one specific emerging area of IS that you already have familiarity and experience with. What is the value added by this area of IS?
I am familiar with connected car area of IS. Connected cars add value in many facets of the driving experience, most notably in safety procedures and precautions. One thing that the most innovated connected cars provides to the driver in terms of safety is that the vehicles use technology to keep drivers from unintentionally straying into other lanes while driving on the highway. This feature can help avoid collisions and accidents on the road by alerting the driver to keep their vehicle in between the lines. Another feature that is becoming standard in almost all vehicles is a Bluetooth cellular feature, which allows the driver to answer phone calls without ever looking away from the road, again adding the value of safety, which cannot be put to a price.
Emerging Area of Information Systems (IS) That You Are Less Familiar With/Would Like to Learn More: Based on the IS-related areas that are identified in these slides, identify one specific emerging area of IS that you are less familiar with, but would like to learn more/gain experience with. What is the value added by this area of IS?
I am not as familiar with artificial intelligence as I would like to be, but I do think that it is the future of all innovation. AI allows people to work with computers like never before and is likely the most efficient problem-solving entity in the world, as long as its program has been written according to the specific purpose of the AI. One of the most important features of AI is that it allows companies to sort through endless amounts of data with ease and precision, and in an ever-digitizing world, being able to concisely sort through data is crucial to the success of a company.
Other Examples Like This?: Based on the IS-related material that you see in these slides, what specific areas do you likely to see as a big part of your career and professional development (i.e. where do you want to gain experience in internships and your first jobs)?
I think that it will be crucial for me to learn and understand how Big Data operates and how AI can be used to create a more efficient business. As I stated in the previous question, every company is full of endless data, and the best way to be able to sort through and reconcile that data is through online programs and AI. Personally, I am very interested in the flow of data and analytics behind that flow, so the idea of programming robots to sift through the cloud to quickly find documents and figures will be important in my future in any business.
