I have always been interested in my Dad’s side of the family. Originally, our family came over form Czechoslovakia in 1924 and moved to Pittsburgh. In Pittsburgh, my grandfather Edward J. Voynik was born in 1928. He worked in the steel mines and went to Duquesne University. After he married my grandmother, Theresa, they moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where my dad and his two sisters were born. My dad moved to Mississippi for college and I was born and raised there. I would like to find out more about our family when they were in Czechoslovakia before immigration, but most of the records were destroyed in World War II as a result of bombings.
