I don’t know much about my family history just because I haven’t investigated it extensively, so learning anything would be interesting. More specifically though, I would like to learn more about my family on my mom’s side because my grandmother recently passed away and she never really told me anything about her family. All I know is that she is from Germany and never actually became an American citizen despite her living in the United States with a green card for many years. Therefore, I have a lot of family members in Germany that I don’t know much about. There was also a bit of a language barrier between my grandmother and my siblings and I, so it was difficult for us to understand what she was saying when she tried to tell us stories when we were younger. Overall, I think it is amazing how far genealogy has come and all the tools at our disposal to look into our past and where we come from, so I’m excited to learn more.
