Today you are on a day long visit to Glendalough and the City of Kilkenny. This is an excellent opportunity to write a short paragraph on your travels to the Irish countryside with some observations on how Glendalough and Kilkenny differ from your experiences in Ireland in the large city of Dublin. So – for this blog post – concentrate on how your experiences in Glendalough and Kilkenny gave you an experience with a different part of Ireland.
It is plain to see that Glendalough and Kilkenny differ greatly from the city of Dublin on a simple basis of population density and urban development. However, from a business perspective, it reveals the challenges and opportunities that are unique to each setting. In Dublin, the docklands are an excellent opportunity for tech companies to expand on a multinational level. In more rural areas like Glendalough and Kilkenny, a completely different industry exists; one that revolves around traditional Irish agriculture. In Glendalough, we experienced a herding demonstration which included a presentation regarding the rural business model. While fairly simple in concept, the industry has faced many challenges in recent years due to the decline in the price of wool and the volatility in the price of lamb. This has forced herders to change herding strategies that have lasted for centuries. Kilkenny and Glendalough are different from Dublin regarding setting, however, both areas are experiencing significant changes in their respective industries.
