Growing in London

Hello again! Crazy to be writing to you all with only one more month left in London! While living in London has definitely been different and an adjustment, I have had the chance to learn a lot about myself. Throughout the program I have really seen myself grow and develop new and important skills.

The main skills that I have seen in myself this past semester is my ability to adapt and be flexible. Life in London is constantly changing and is so different to life back at Pitt, so I have really had to learn how to adapt and be flexible in many situations. London life is constantly filled with excitement and new opportunities, but that also means learning to be more flexible when it comes to scheduling and planning. It has definitely been a challenge to adapt to a new schedule and a new lifestyle, but this has helped me to grow as a person and a student. Developing skills like adaptability and flexibility will definitely help me once I’m back at Pitt as they are transferable skills that I will continue to use in my life beyond London.

Additionally, while in London I have also learned to become a more open minded individual. In London I have become a more open-minded student as I interact and work with new professors and classmates. I have gotten the opportunity to learn in a new classroom setting and from professors with new and different teaching styles and methods. Additionally, while having the opportunity to interact with new people whether its students, professors, or locals, I have also learned to be more openminded when it comes to cultural differences and lifestyle differences. I have seen and experienced how life functions differently in London in comparison to Pitt. I have also become more open minded when it comes to new opportunities and taking risks. As my time in London comes to an end, I have really begun to take advantage of all the new and exciting opportunities that come my way, and have been trying to explore and try as many more new things that I can.

I am sad to see my time in London dwindle down, as I have really gotten the chance to see myself grow, but I am excited to come back to Pitt where I will be able to apply these new and improved skills to my life after London. While in London I have been so fortunate to have gotten to interact with lots of different people such as locals, professors, and other program participants, and think that these new interactions have really shaped my experience in London and impacted my identify. I am so happy to reflect on how much I have progressed since first arriving in London, and can’t wait to see what happens in my final few weeks here!

Until next time!
