Continue to Navigate in London

As I step into my third week in London, the city has seamlessly woven itself into the fabric of my daily life. Coming from the bustling streets of New York, I couldn’t help but draw parallels between the two metropolises. London, with its dynamic energy and diverse cultural landscape, exudes a familiar urban vibe that makes it feel like a second home to me. Adapting to the rhythm of this city was surprisingly swift, and integration into its society felt almost instinctual.

My academic journey at CAPA has been nothing short of enriching, with a diverse array of courses shaping my understanding of global management. Previously, I simply thought of global management as essentially an extension of regular management on a larger scale. However, upon attending an international business program and engaging in an internship in London, I found that international business courses are intricately focused on the nuances of effectively managing individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.  The intricacies of effectively managing individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds became a focal point, highlighting the indispensable need for a nuanced approach in this interconnected global landscape. Currently enrolled in four courses at CAPA—international economics, international organizational behavior, an internship course, and international marketing—I find myself delving into the depths of understanding the complexities that underpin global business dynamics. This semester has become a transformative journey, one where theoretical knowledge converges with real-world applications, bridging the gap between academia and practical experience.

Simultaneously, my internship at Arden Fine Wine, an e-commerce company specializing in the sale of wines. Immersed in tasks ranging from transferring data from Excel to our website, listing new products, and enhancing their visual appeal through image editing, to monitoring prices and inventory from the supply list—my role demands a multifaceted skill set. A keen eye for detail, proficiency in Excel, and effective communication skills are non-negotiable in navigating the intricacies of my responsibilities.

Furthermore, the role requires a nuanced understanding of data sensitivity, a grasp of supply chain intricacies, and a keen interest in business analytics and metrics. Success in this dynamic environment hinges on the ability to comprehend the complexities of operations and logistics. As I navigate these responsibilities, I am not merely gaining professional experience but also honing a diverse skill set that extends beyond the confines of the classroom.

In essence, my time in London is evolving into a holistic learning experience—one that seamlessly blends academic insights, cultural immersion, and hands-on professional development. As I navigate the streets of this vibrant city and the intricacies of global business, each day unfolds as a chapter in a narrative that promises growth, discovery, and a deeper understanding of the global landscape.
