Hello everyone, I’m Nischal Kharel. I am majoring in Computer Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. I’m very passionate about computers and recently, AI and Machine learning. I’m planning on doing my master’s (maybe PhD) in AI once I’m done with my bachelor’s.
I was born in Nepal (in a small city near India) and spent the first decade of my life there. I moved to the US when I was 12 years old. It has been about 10 years since I left my birth country. So when I saw an opportunity to study abroad in India, I had to check it out.
I initially applied to this program with the primary goal of doing something I would have never imagined myself doing in my life, A 10 DAY TREK through the Himalayas. This will be like nothing that I have ever done before and I am very excited about it. I like to often challenge myself physically and mentally and this seems like it will be an ultimate test for it all.
Therefore, I hope to gain a lot of outdoor skills from this trip, from basic outdoor first aid to advanced leadership skills. As you read in the title, I have 2 days, 16 hr, 54 mins, 21 secs till India…20 seconds.. 19 seconds.. Anyway, I am very excited, and I hope this can be the trip that gets to be the starting point of my incredible travel journey. I hope I can gain the knowledge and skills from this trip that will be necessary to do future solo trips.
