Hi, my name is Sami Field and I am participating in Pitt’s Global Business Institute in London this summer! I am originally from Oley, PA which is right outside of Reading. I am going into my junior year at Pitt Business and I am currently majoring in Finance and Marketing with a minor in Law, Criminal Justice, and Society. On campus, I am a member of Smart Women Securities and Alpha Kappa Psi. I enjoy spending my free time hanging out with friends, going on walks, watching movies, and traveling. During my time abroad I will take the International Marketing course and complete an internship.
Ever since I completed Pitt’s Plus 3 program last summer, I have been itching to go abroad again. I chose the GBI program because of the unique opportunity to not only study abroad, but work abroad too. London is a diverse city with a thriving business environment. I am excited to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment while also broadening my horizons through academic study and cultural immersion. By studying and interning here, I hope to expose myself to new perspectives, ideas, and opportunities and to expand my understanding of global business practices and cultural nuances.
To be sucessful in this program, I plan to leverage my clifton strengths. Being abroad for a long period of time requires a lot of flexibilty and adaptability. I have already had to adapt to a multitude of different things such as time changes, environment changes, cultural changes, etc. I also have to leaverage my communication skills with my roommates, boss/supervisor, and my professors. There is a lot to keep track of and communication is key.
I am so grateful for this opportunity and am excited to see what these next six weeks will bring!
