Ahoj Praha!

Hola! Shalom! Yassas! Bienvenue! Dobrý Den! Hello, and welcome everyone, my name is Eliana Goodman (she/her), and I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and attend university at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am a rising senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an Honors Degree through the Frederick Honors College. I have a triple major in Business Information Systems, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management with a minor in Economics, a certificate in Data Analytics, and concentrations in IS Consultancy Practices and Project Management. The program I have the honor to participate in is the International Internship Program in Prague, Czechia, a country in the middle of Europe, historically untouched by evolving geopolitical issues, with an 8-week internship that will help develop my professional goals, allow personal growth, and fulfill academic degree requirements.

After graduating high school and into my first year, I had the opportunity to be a data analyst intern for the Export Compliance Training Institute (ECTI) based in Arlington, Virginia, where I learned about an industry that I previously did not know existed. The company is in the industry of export controls and regulatory training for both EAR (Export Administration Regulations) and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). This spiked my interest in international trade and operations. Then during the Summer of 2022, I traveled to the Middle East and was a Business Development intern for a technology and software start-up in Tel Aviv, I had the opportunity to travel to Greece, which being a history nerd, I loved. This allowed me huge personal growth as the international perspective and being in the tech space further homed in on a career path. Then during my sophomore year, I was a real estate analyst for Project Destined, a Real Estate training firm focused on underrepresented groups, where I was a project analyst for AEW Capital Management based in Boston, Massachusetts. During the Summer of 2023 and extended into the fall semester, I moved down to Raleigh, North Carolina to intern at Eaton Corporation in their Critical Power and Digital Infrastructure industry as a Supply Chain & Operations intern. Here I learned about electronic and digital infrastructure as well as spearheaded a project of standardizing and compiling all process flows. I finished this internship while back in Pittsburgh starting my junior year. This past year I joined the team at PantherlabWorks at Pitt’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence as an Associate Consultant specializing in the Technology space doing market research, intellectual property infringement investigation, new product development, and process improvement. I plan on continuing with PantherlabWorks through Graduation in April 2025. Now, here I am in Prague in the Czech Republic, interning at the company PSA BDP, a sustainability-focused global logistics company in an amazing location I am thrilled to learn more about their history and culture and gain this once-in-a-lifetime international perspective.

Outside of the classroom and professional world, I am highly involved on campus in Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed professional business fraternity where I have held various committee head positions, and Kappa Kappa Gamma, a social sorority in which I was previously on the executive board twice. Further, I am an ambassador for Forté Foundation (an organization focused on More Women Leading!), involved in Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, Raise@Pitt a social entrepreneurship club, an analyst in Smart Women Securities technology sector, and previously on the executive board for American Marketing Association, and a member of Women in Business. I am extremely passionate about learning, whether it’s from experiences, or other people, or a traditional study setting, as well as leadership, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and giving back to the world around us.

In my free time, I volunteer at HARP (the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh) which I find to be kismet because I am passionate about music and my favorite instrument that I play is the harp!! Furthermore, I enjoy yoga and going to the gym, reading, music, traveling/exploring/adventuring, watching sports, cooking & baking, and spending time with family, friends, and my two golden retrievers.

My main goal for this program, other than learn about the culture and history and becoming a local in a foreign city, is to continue to experience the working world as I have a lot of interests but am unsure on how they will coalesce into my professional career. I know that I will not have a singular path that my professional life will take, but rather many kinds of experiences that will hopefully come together to create a beautiful story that is my life. I am excited to begin this new adventure and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have another international internship and opportunity for learning and growth.

Someday maybe I will go get my MBA or maybe go to Law School. Perhaps I will start my own company, become a consultant, or be involved in international relations. I can get involved in industries such as Consumer Goods or Information Technology or even Finances. Maybe I can even do it all. Wherever I go, I am confident that my education, experiences, and my innate ability to adapt and thrive in any environment will be a wonderful background from which I can continue to grow.

With Love,

Eliana Goodman
