IIP Expectations y Campeones de Europa

Hey everyone and welcome to the final blog while at Madrid as a Puerto Rican student from Pitt doing an international internship experience in Madrid, Spain. I will be doing one more blog so it is not farewell yet. Today, I want to write about the competencies and expectations that this internship has brought me and what I believe is “success” here in Madrid compared to Puerto Rico. I also want to write about the unforgettable experience of Spain’s national soccer team becoming European champions and how rowdy was the atmosphere in Madrid.

Like always, firstly I want to talk about the academic/professional perspective and what expectations in a successful industry I embraced while having the opportunity to work in this competent environment. The question of what is “success” like here in Madrid, well I am going to tell you exactly that. I truly believe that something successful has always been something that stands out of someone. On an experienced level, success can be anyone who stands out and demonstrates their adaptability of personal growth of ideas into a big image. Now, I’m not saying that you need to be recognized by the entirety of Madrid for you to be successful and I also don’t think that any people should set a type of limit to what it is considered to be a “successful” person or worker. Recognition is one thing to also consider, but I feel that recognition is something that comes naturally to oneself. When you start giving an example to others, you might have a glimpse of your success and how you are dealing with improving your route towards your goals.

If you were to consider the word “successful” to be something effective, it is completely different from what I am trying to point out. Being effective is something that creates the intended result and works in an intended manner. If you ask me, “What makes an effective employee in a Spanish industry, I will tell you that it is someone who works well and does tasks as asked.

I could not determine the difference between what is success here in Madrid vs what is success in Puerto Rico or Madrid. Born in Puerto Rico I created a point of view a bit more obliging and driven than something effective to what is a success. Helping others has always been something that I have in mind while reaching to achieve my goals as well as being someone ambitious and effective at the same time to create someone truly successful. Raised in a Roman Catholic household, I have engraved these aspects to my final goal. Jesus said to always help your neighbor as to yourself.

In a public manner, I believe that Madrid is a place where you have to step up to be a better person, to learn, and to make a change. Those things are what stand out to be successful. In PR it is the one that is more of service while being ambitious in what he or she aspires.

Finishing up this blog, I want to describe the incredible environment that I experienced winning in tennis with the young Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon and Spain’s most famous sport, fútbol being European champions. Even though fútbol is way more recognized than tennis in Spain, I do appreciate tennis. Carlos Alcaraz is a 21-year-old Spanish player who has won 15 ATP Tour level tournaments, of which 5 of them have been Masters 1000 titles and he recently won his 4th grand slam. This young star is on his way to be the next Rafa Nadal and his work is showing off in his numbers.

In fútbol, the young talents continue to show off in Spain’s national team with 17-year and 1-day-old Lamine Yamal, Pedri (21 y/o), and Nico Williams (21 y/o), among others. Spain played an incredible game and effort to win the cup against 24 other teams. Spain now has the most European Cup wins in history with 4, the Madrlieños show their appreciation towards it. People of all ages, mostly young, celebrated in all of Madrid all night and all morning on Spain’s victory. Streets flooded with people chanting “Yo soy Español, Español, Español” really gave me goosebumps on the excitement of the people I am not even Spanish and I was happy for them.

With all of this said Spain has been incredible. If I had to say my best travel, definitely Barcelona then Segovia then Málaga then Valencia. I am leaving Madrid in 5 days and I am going to miss the food, people, and simplicity of this city. I can’t wait to come back when I’m older and visit more places. I will do my next blog post in 2 weeks approximately, but for now, it has been real…Madrid!

HASTA LUEGOOO!🇪🇸❤️
