Puerto Rico Introduction!

Hello, my name is Amiel Bengert, and I am a third-year student triple majoring in Global Management, Marketing, and Human Resources, while also pursuing a certificate in Leadership and Ethics. Although I am a business major, I currently work part-time at Magee Women’s Hospital. While this role isn’t directly related to my future profession, I wanted to spend my college years in a job where I could genuinely help people. This is also what excited me about working with Caras Con Causa.

Outside of class, I work as a contracted marketing consultant for author Ellen Roth, serve as a brand ambassador for TurboTax, and am a teaching assistant this semester for Decision Analytics. Balancing these roles has helped me develop strong time management and leadership skills, which I hope to carry into my future. After completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to attend a JD program and pursue a career in corporate law. I have a deep passion for business and ethics, and I aspire to make a meaningful impact in the corporate world.

Every semester, I push myself to achieve strong grades while balancing academics, work, and a fulfilling college experience. I currently serve as the Brotherhood Development Director on the executive board of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, a role that has strengthened my leadership, event planning, and interpersonal skills. While I have a lot on my plate, I am beyond excited to participate in this program.

As part of my Global Management major, I am required to study abroad, and after careful research, I was thrilled to find the Global Service Learning program. In my three years at the University of Pittsburgh, I haven’t had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with a nonprofit. Many of my business courses have focused on private businesses rather than nonprofit organizations, which is why this program stood out to me. Nonprofits play a crucial role in the business world, and I am excited to apply my knowledge of marketing and business strategy in a meaningful way.

One of our key goals for this program is to help Caras Con Causa expand its reach by securing a new university partnership. If my group is successful in achieving this, it will not only make a difference for Caras, but it will also prove to me that I have the skills to create real, measurable impact. Knowing that my efforts directly contributed to the long-term growth of an organization dedicated to social change would be incredibly rewarding.

Success in this project would also reinforce my confidence in my problem-solving and consulting abilities, two skills essential for my goals in corporate law. Whether it’s negotiating partnerships, developing business strategies, or driving initiatives forward, I know that the experience I gain from this program will help shape me into a more effective leader and professional. More than anything, I’m excited to work with Caras Con Causa and be part of something that has a tangible social impact. The grade I receive in this class isn’t what matters to me—the impact I can help create is what truly counts.
