Week 2- Time Management an the Cliffs of Moher

This was the week that I finally started my internship at Irish Insolvency Solutions. I finally was able to meet everyone in the company and see the day to day tasks that I will be participating in throughout my time here in Dublin. I have already learned so much about insolvencies in Ireland and what it takes to work in and manage an insolvency agency. Some of my responsibilities as a finance intern at Irish Insolvency Solutions are writing letters to creditors and banks to inform them of the liquidations of the clients we work with, figuring out how much each client owes to creditors, opening and managing our liquidation accounts, and a few others.

Like I said above I have started to find my rhythm and role in the company which is very helpful in giving me peace of mind in the future of this role. Some of the ways I will manage my time in the company is just to be staying engaged with my tasks while I am at the office. Unlike some of the people I have met, I am working fully in person and 8 hour weeks so while I am at the office I know that is the time I should be working so that when I get home I do not have to worry about anything related to work. Some ways I can manage my time at work is to silence my phone. This is very important because in today’s day the phone is the most distracting thing in the world in my opinion so to have that silence will help me stay engaged throughout the day. Also I share a room with my supervisor so that is very helpful to keep me on task and if I have any questions about anything that I am doing it is very easy for me to reach out to him to find out how to do things. Lastly every case that I have been working on has been different so some situations for the clients are more dire than others so it is important to prioritize some and put others on the back burners. This is important because the clients that aren’t as worried or in a deeper hole are more willing to wait for a letter or response to a question while the people in dire situations will leave bad reviews or have a worse experience.

This weekend I booked a tour bus to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway for the day. This was a great experience I would recommend to anyone. The bus had a tour guide in it who would say the most random facts about where we were in Ireland and some history about the surrounding areas. When we finally arrived at the cliffs of Moher it was beautiful. I attached a few of the pictures I took in this post but I feel like they do not do it justice. Being there and experiencing everything the day brought between the history lesson on the ride there to seeing the cliffs themselves in person made it all so surreal.

Next we took a scenic route to Galway. It took another two hours and we were on the tightest roads I have ever seen but some of the landscape we saw there was like nothing I have ever seen before. To this day I am very impressed with the driving ability of the bus driver to not go off a cliff during the ride. When we arrived in Galway we walked straight to the strip and I am convinced that it was about a mile long of just shops and restaurants and just seemed like a great place to hang out. We walked around for a bit but given that Galway is known for being a fishing point I had to try their fish and chips so I am happy to report that it did not disappoint. After we got some food we continued to check out the strip and we found this back alley which led to a bunch of little pop up shops which had a ton of cool things on sale, some selling snacks and others selling cool trinkets. To finish up this trip we went to see the Spanish arch in Galway and it was very cool.
