Hi everyone, my name is Aubrey Baumiller, and I am from a small town called Perryopolis, PA, which is about an hour south of Pittsburgh. I was a competitive cheerleader for 7 years at Rock n Rolls and I also love volunteer work. I volunteer at places like the local youth cheer program, at various church community events, and just this past election in May I was a student poll worker and I intend of being a poll worker for the election this fall. In addition to volunteer work and school I also have a dog named Cooper James and a Cat named Daisy May that i spend my free time with relaxing. I intend to major in finance and accounting and hope to graduate in three years. I am also coming into college with a lot of credits because I did dual enrollment through Pitt at Greensburg, where I was fortunate enough to be able to attend some classes in person. I am also in the Fredrick Honors college, and I am looking into what the Bphil degree program consists of. Additionally, I plan on going to law school after undergrad and have guaranteed accepted into Pitt Law. During high school I was part of FBLA and placed 5th at states as well participating in BotIQ where I was student ambassador. Through BotsIQ I was able to do a site visit to a robotics company which really peaked my interest in business seeing how companies are run day to day. Furthermore through Fayette County Chamber of Commerce I completed a summer program going into my sophomore year of high school where I got to tour different local businesses and understand how they better the community. My school also had me complete a job shadow experience where I chose to job shadow Renee Porada Frazier who is an attorney at Weber Gallagher and a Pitt alum. though that experience I truly learned many different thing especially about business and law coming together.
I chose the Haller Global Fellowship program because I am super interested in international business and thought that the program would be a good gateway into that area of business. Furthermore, I chose the program because I love to travel but have not yet been able to travel outside of the country, and I thought that experiencing traveling internationally with a school group would be the perfect introduction to international travel, and maybe get me to study abroad and travel more in general. Personally through this program I would love to get to experience another country hands on in a way that a normal tourist might not get to because I think learning about different cultural norms is fascinating. But this program is not just about what I want to learn culturally, but what I most importantly want to learn academically. Throughout the duration of the program I hope to gain insight on how companies are run internationally and how you can use business topics learned in a classroom setting and apply them in a hands on way in an environment that is foreign to me. I professionally want to learn how to interact with companies and set reasonable work outcome expectations that are beneficial to everyone in the business situation. I also want to learn how to effectively work with companies internationally in general and the best practices when working internationally because as a career goal I would like to work in an international field of law one day.
