Hi! My name is Sumati Shrivastava and I am part of the 2025 Haller Global Fellowship Program. I am from Paoli, Pennsylvania, a small town about half an hour away from Philadelphia. I will be a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh this coming fall under the School of Business, as well as the David C. Frederick Honors College. My current intended major is Business Analytics with a possible double major in either Marketing or Linguistics (from the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences). I am eager to make new connections at Pitt, and build a strong professional foundation both of which is achievable thanks to the variety of opportunities available at the university! I look forward to the rest of the Haller program and the fall semester to continue learning and developing more skills for my toolbox.
I applied for the Haller program for multiple reasons, starting with an opportunity to see Ireland. I have always wanted to visit Ireland and see the beautiful landscapes, so that appealed to me. Academically, the course being taught during this program (Managing business in Complex Environments) is one I thought would be easier to understand in a complex environment sponsored by the university, but also unique and new than a typical college class. I also get to meet new people and make friends before orientation week, and get to spend time with them. Learning in a smaller classroom setting is nice to better connect with the professors and understand the material. Getting hands-on experience in Ireland and working with small businesses there is more proof of everything Haller provides! I am so excited for the rest of this program and learning more!
