Haller Diaries: Jumping Right In!

Today, we jumped right in! Into puddles, into meetings, and into our projects.

For my project to help and improve the local businesses of Carrigart, Ireland, I will be working as a part of the Marketing & Analytics Assessment Team, along with three classmates. I am especially interested in working in this project area as media and advertising is ever evolving and ever growing. I think researching this, specifically for Carrigart, will be an interesting and immersive endeavor as the town experiences fluctuating periods of engagement and tourism. Marketing provides a different outlook to the sector of local businesses in Carrigart, and by assessing various vantage points, I am sure that we will successfully help the town and business owners flourish.

For our first client meeting of the program, we had the wonderful opportunity to meet with Majella Orr, Manager of the Gteic Co-Working Hub in Carrigart, Ireland. To prepare, we researched the town of Carrigart prior to the meeting and discovered various factors which help the town thrive. Through an intensive Q&A, what I took away from this meeting was that Ireland is a popular tourist location, especially for sightseeing and town visits. In the home-away-from-home environment, Carrigart equally draws in many professionals from various corporations as they do visiting families looking for a get-a-way. As community involvement is pivotal, the town caters to visiting families, children, and tourists through activities and recreational excursions- from fine dining to hiking along the beaches. Using this knowledge, where I think my team can go from here is learning how to relate neighboring businesses in the area and expanding the network of these organizations, perhaps even catering to various demographics to draw in interest and recognition during both busy and off season. Key opportunities to look into would include the popular venues- such as caravan & camping parks, restaurants, and golf courses- and providing incentives to make sure that people have reasons to visit even during the off season.

I look forward to creating a unique campaign which will aid Carrigart in the long term, and bring prosperous results all year round!
