Connellsville adventures: glass and walks

Today, we visited Connellsville. We were given a tour of their stained glass factory, one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen. We then had lunch at the Connellsville Canteen, the only WWII museum in southwestern Pennsylvania. We were given a presentation about the Fayette County Cultural Trust by Michael Edwards and Dan Cocks, and then a tour around the area. We visited their Native American museum, theatre, their Comfort Inn hotel, the local restaurant near the hotel, and went on a walk on the bike trail to see the welcome arch.

In a small town, it was interesting to see how their businesses operate. They don’t get too much foot traffic but they still make things work. It was inspiring to see their resolve to make their town flourish, because their hard work and determination has been paying off, especially by building connections in their neighborhoods and with everyone in the area so everyone supports each other. Our groups are hoping to emphasize the partnership possibilities in our presentations much like this town.

We all hope to see a similar result in Carrigart at the end of our projects, because truly small towns have the hardest workers!
