So far, my internship experience in Stockholm, Sweden, has been both exciting and enriching. Now that I’m in my sixth week, I’ve settled into a steady rhythm at the company and in the city. What once felt unfamiliar has quickly become part of my daily routine, from navigating public transportation to understanding the work culture. Stockholm is an incredibly organized and welcoming city, and it has made this transition smoother than I expected.
At work, I’ve grown increasingly comfortable in my role and with my colleagues. The team has been supportive and open, creating an environment where I feel encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and contribute meaningfully. With each passing week, I find myself becoming more confident in my tasks and more integrated into the company’s projects. The company culture here promotes collaboration and independence, which has helped me develop both professionally and personally.
Outside of work, I’ve taken full advantage of being in Scandinavia by traveling and exploring nearby cities. One of the highlights so far has been my solo trip to Oslo, Norway. Traveling alone gave me the chance to step out of my comfort zone, and I really enjoyed experiencing a new country at my own pace. Oslo had a different energy compared to Stockholm, and I loved exploring the museums, parks, and waterfront areas. It was empowering to plan everything myself and navigate a new place independently.
Back in Stockholm, my social life has become an important and enjoyable part of my experience. Over the past few weeks, I’ve found a solid group of friends who I spend a lot of time with. We explore the city together, try different restaurants and cafés, and even plan weekend trips. Having a group of people to share this experience with has made everything more meaningful and fun, especially since we’re all experiencing life abroad in our own unique ways.
This combination of professional growth and personal adventure has made my time in Stockholm incredibly rewarding. Every week, I’m learning something new, whether it’s a work-related skill, a cultural nuance, or a hidden gem in the city. Living and working abroad has pushed me to become more independent, adaptable, and open-minded. I’m grateful for how much I’ve been able to experience in just six weeks.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to make the most of the remaining time in my internship. I want to continue building strong relationships at work, keep learning, and explore more of Sweden and nearby countries. This experience has already exceeded my expectations, and I know it will have a lasting impact on both my career and my outlook on life. Stockholm has started to feel like a second home, and I’m eager to see what the rest of the journey holds. I plan to travel to Amsterdam next week sometime by myself again!
