WEEK 2!
I cannot believe I’ve already crossed the two‑week mark at this internship. Time is flying by so quickly, and I feel like I’ve already learned so much in such a short span of time. Even though I’ve mainly been doing research for my company so far, I can genuinely say that all the work I’ve been assigned has been incredibly fun. Research might sound dry or tedious to some people, but for me, it’s been an absolute blast. I’ve been deeply enjoying the process of learning about my company’s different services and seeing how everything connects to the bigger picture. It’s fascinating to realize that the data and insights I’m gathering right now can directly help shape strategies and contribute to the company’s growth in the future. That sense of impact makes the work feel meaningful, even at this early stage.
Most of my tasks are assigned on a day‑by‑day basis, which has helped me manage my time very effectively. When I finish one assignment, I’m immediately given another, so there’s a steady rhythm to my workflow. This style keeps me focused without overwhelming me. I really appreciate that my company has been intentional about giving me plenty of time to complete each task. There’s no intense pressure to rush through things; instead, they clearly value quality over speed. On the one occasion when I was given multiple tasks at once, my supervisor immediately clarified which one I should prioritize. That guidance made everything feel manageable, and I never had to worry about juggling too much at the same time.
Another aspect I’ve come to appreciate is the nature of research itself. By definition, research is supposed to take time. It’s not something you can just breeze through in a hurry. The more effort you put into analyzing details, cross‑referencing information, and double‑checking sources, the more valuable the final product becomes. Because of that, I haven’t felt stressed out by unrealistic deadlines or a mountain of tasks piling up. Instead, I’ve been able to focus on doing my best work without cutting corners. I’ve been putting in 100% effort, and so far, that approach has paid off beautifully. My assignments have been successful, and people in the office seem genuinely pleased with the results. That positive feedback has been motivating and reassuring.
Of course, not everything has been seamless. There’s always going to be a learning curve when you’re new. One day this week, I was asked to organize files, and I was completely confused. I stared at the screen for nearly 45 minutes, baffled by the folder structures and terrified of accidentally deleting something important. I tried to figure it out on my own, carefully analyzing the system without making irreversible changes. Eventually, I decided to ask my boss for guidance. He was equally as confused, but we figured it out . Even though I had no idea what I was doing at first, I was grateful that they trusted me with a new responsibility. That experience reminded me that it’s okay to ask for help and that learning through mistakes—or near mistakes—is part of the process.
Another highlight of this internship has been the unique perspective I bring to the table. The company I’m working for offers specialized services to international students living in South Korea, which means I am literally part of their target market. Because of that, my supervisors often ask me to add my personal opinions and firsthand insights to different assignments. At first, I was surprised by how much useful information I could provide simply by sharing my own experiences as a student. Things that felt basic or obvious to me turned out to be valuable data for them to refine their services. It’s empowering to realize that my perspective isn’t just valid—it’s actively shaping the company’s approach to its audience.
Beyond the office, I’ve also started settling into a good routine. My sleep schedule has finally adjusted to the new time zone and work lifestyle, which makes a huge difference. I wake up feeling well‑rested and energized every morning, ready to take on the day. That balance between work and personal life has helped me feel more grounded. I’m not just surviving the internship—I’m thriving in it. The combination of meaningful tasks, supportive supervisors, and a healthy routine has made this second week feel like a turning point. I’m more confident, more comfortable, and more excited about what’s ahead.
All things considered, week two was a success. I learned new skills, overcame challenges, contributed valuable insights, and found my rhythm both inside and outside the office. If the first two weeks are any indication, this internship is going to be an incredibly rewarding experience. I can’t wait to see what week three brings!
