Through the course of the following days (Friday & Saturday), we have hiked, walked, taken loads of photos, and overall enjoy the stunning views of various locations such as the Doe Castle, Horn Head, Sliabh Liag Cliffs, etc. But during our visits seeing the Giant’s Causeway, we’ve had minor difficulties with the weather conditions, there was pouring rain, incredibly windy and just not really pleasant weather to begin with. The weather overall these past few days are not something a person who’s never been to Ireland would expect. It is very windy, causing me to see people’s hair fly everywhere, which can be a hazard especially for those who are hiking up a mountain, or just walking in incredibly dangerous paths (paths with wobbly rocks, wet gravel, muddy paths). But being realistic, the weather I was experiencing these past two days seem typical for Ireland, it’s just very tough to predict how chilly, windy or overall the forecast will be in any day. I’d say the hardest thing about the weather here is mainly targeted towards visitors who’s never been to Ireland, or just never experienced harsh wind conditions. Now, during our visit today seeing the Sliabh Liag Cliffs, I did notice there was a station of trucks selling ponchos, walking sticks, hats, and overall merchandise. I was thinking of how that can be implemented towards other tourist sites such as hiking places, most of the site sees our group has been in don’t have that exact station of selling equipment to the public other than the one I saw today, so in a summarization, I think mainly these particular areas such as mountains, cliffs, or just walking paths with unpredictable weather should place a mini shop filled with the correct gear for these situations. For example, if you were to go to the Giant’s Causeway, and the day you go there has very bad weather conditions (pouring rain, foggy weather), the shop can sell tourists raincoats, walking/hiking shoes, an umbrella section, heat warmers, or hot beverages (mainly for after the trip). Although some of these places such as the Sliabh Liag Cliffs already have an area dedicated to what I proposed, these other hiking paths could be really beneficial to have for those who aren’t exactly quite prepared for the trip. I am speaking this from experience since one of our first stops of hiking paths was the Giant’s Causeway, I did not bring a raincoat but an umbrella, it was very windy that day and caused my umbrella to almost break and fly away from my hand.
