Week 1: Exploring the City

When I decided this past winter that I wanted to go abroad I wasn’t quite sure where I wanted to go. I could have chose to spend my summer with the eiffel tower in my backyard or on the beaches of Sydney, Australia. Eventually I landed on the “Golden City” of Prague, Czech Republic and I could not be happier with my choice. I have been here for a full week now and what a week it has been.

I landed in Prague last Sunday and had no idea what I was doing. My taxi driver from the airport dropped me off at the wrong location and I spent the next 30 minutes walking around with all of my luggage trying to find a street that I couldn’t even pronounce correctly. Eventually I found my destination and since then my time here has been incredible.

The other students here and myself explored the city as much as we could this past week. We did a walking tour where we got to see all the big tourist attractions such as the Charles bridge and Wenceslas Square. Later on we all rented bikes and rode along the river and were exposed to many beautiful views and the magnificent parks that Prague has to offer. Yesterday we visited the town of Plzen and were able to tour the Pilsner brewery.

So far the city of Prague has exceeded all of my expectations and I could not be more excited to spend the rest of my summer here!
