Galway Girl

After a long week at work, we decided to revisit one of our favorite cities in Ireland, Galway. One of my coworkers described Galway in Dublin in the perfect way. They said that although Dublin is great, it could be any major European city, while with Galway, its a very small town feel and a true Irish city. Each shop there is so unique and there are street musicians everywhere that add to the ambiance of the place.

Galway is known for having a significant number of random festivals that seem to happen every weekend. This weekend we happened to be visiting during the maritime festival. We walked around the pier and docks looking at people’s different boats as well as maritime themed art. We also visited the local farmers market which had multiple stands displayed different homemade food items and crafts. We then got dinner at one of Ireland’s best restaurants for fresh fish and chips.

At night we decided to join in a local pub crawl, where throughout the night we went to about 4 different local pubs and got to hang out with locals all night. It was a really good way to get to know the locals and the town.

I really enjoyed being able to step away from the busy city of Dublin and go into a smaller town setting and really compare the 2 experiences.
