Already Halfway Through

Wow, it amazes me to think that I am already halfway through my internship abroad. A part of me is disappointed to already have reached the second half, but there is a part of me that is also looking forward to eventually seeing my friends and family at home and reaching normalcy once again. I feel like there is so much to see in Paris that I am trying to take advantage of every second of my valuable free time! Unfortunately, my internship leaves me tired at the end of the day and I usually don’t get back to my home stay until 7pm or later, which doesn’t give me a whole lot of time to do things in the city.

However, this week I was able to go to the theater and the opera in the evening on two days. It was an incredible experience! I saw a comedy at the theater, which was very well done and funny. The opera was amazing. This was my first time going to the opera and I was blown away. Honestly, I was concern I might fall asleep during a 2.5 hour opera, but it was an incredible experience.

At my internship, I just realized this week how much responsibility I have been given. One of the main projects I have been working on is filling a guest list for a private event that my company is holding to spread awareness about our brand. I have been reaching out to social media influencers based in France, inviting them to attend our event with their families. I have contacted so many people, with not much response and realized this week that I am the only one responsible for doing this. I am also solely in charge of my company’s social media, as well as our weekly blog posts, and contacting people about partnerships. I am amazed and humbled at the level of responsibility that has been given to me so far. Although this makes the job a bit more stressful, it is also very rewarding as the work is very meaningful and important.

I hope to continue my success at my internship and continue learning the ways of the French. So far this experience has been very eye-opening and humbling, and I am excited to see what will come in the weeks ahead.
