Hi everyone!
Well, I have returned to the great US of A and that means my time abroad is officially over. The time I have spent in Sydney, Australia has been one of the best experiences of my life. Reflecting back on the past six weeks, I realize that picking GBI: Sydney Sports Business has been one of my best decisions to date.
Through the GBI: Sydney Sports Business program, these past six weeks in Sydney I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend a Sports Marketing class and intern at the Greater Western Sydney Giants Football Club. Through both of these learning environments, I was able to experience the sports industry both inside and outside of the classroom through site visits and game day activities. This allowed to develop both on a personal and professional level. Interning and studying in a global setting has helped shaped me into a better business student and international business woman. I have developed my intercultural adaptability skills, so that I will be able conduct business internationally both at Pitt and in my future business career.

Besides learning tons professionally and academically, I also had the chance to explore Sydney and discover my love for the Australian way of life. During my limited number of days down under, I explored some of Sydney’s famous beaches, hiked in the Blue Mountains, and walked the bustling city streets. I furthered my love of specialty coffees and banana bread by exploring menus at every chain coffee stores and corner coffee shops alike. All of these unique adventures have helped me to grow on a personal level. Emerging oneself into a completely foreign culture without knowing anyone Is a frightening experience. I am so glad that I took that leap of faith and was able to take on this challenge. I further developed my communication and flexibility skills, which I translate into my everyday life at the University of Pittsburgh.
Throughout this six-week experience, I have gained valuable knowledge that I cannot wait to bring back to my life at Pitt Business. I have acquired many different business skills, in particular marketing, which I am anticipating sharing with my fellow classmates in the American Marketing Association and Sports Business Association. I am very excited to share my experience and be able to take business from the classroom, to the city, and to Australia!
Thank you so much for keeping up with my Australian adventures these last few weeks! Cheers, mates!
