Hi everyone, my name is Ethan Wolf and I am currently a sophomore at Pitt in the College of Business Administration. I am a marketing major and plan on receiving certificates in digital media as well as communication. When I entered college I knew I wanted to do something with marketing. After my first two years, I now know that I want to work in the advertising field.
I am from North Caldwell, New Jersey. It is about 25-30 minutes away from New York City. Many of you would probably recognize my town, it is the town that the Sopranos were filmed in. I graduated from West Essex Regional High School and am currently one of two people to come to Pitt in the last 4 years. Coming to Pitt has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I have met so many great people and have made some amazing memories.
Currently at Pitt, I am involved in two organizations. I am an active member in Sports. Business Association. As well, I am extremely active in my fraternity, Zeta Beta Tau, as I currently hold 5 positions. In the past I have been the recruitment director and the social chair. Both of these positions have taught me a great deal about the importance of being well-organized and being able to communicate well with anyone know matter the situation. My two biggest positions now are parent and alumni chair and philanthropy chair. I choose these positions because I think they will greatly benefit me in the future. By being in contact with parents and alumni, I get to build my personal network. Who knows, maybe someone I talk to ends up becoming my future boss! I also love getting involved in the community and making a difference. This year our fraternity raised thousands of dollars for PDM, I plan on exceeding that amount this upcoming year. I believe it is extremely important to help others, and this position gives me a great opportunity to not only help others but get other people to help out as well.
Up to this point in my life I have had three internships. The summer going into my senior year of high school I interned for The Philadelphia Soul Arena Football team. This past summer, I was the marketing intern at Free Country. This was a great experienced as it allowed me to learn about the industry as well as make connections threw the projects I was doing. Lastly, during the school year, I was an intern with the Pitt Hillel. Knowing my love for sports and all my academic and professional success up to this point, I knew I couldn’t pass up the chance to intern abroad!
This upcoming summer I will be in Australia studying abroad. While I am there I will be completing a sports-business related internship as well as taking the sports marketing class. I am so excited for this opportunity to work and learn in a foreign country. I know this program will help me out in the future so much. Not many people can say they have worked across the world. By doing this it will set me apart as well as teaching me more about the industry I plan on entering upon graduation. I am so lucky to be able to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity and I truly can not wait for May 22!
