One of the reasons I chose to join this program was because we were going to Dublin. I love to travel, but I have never been to Ireland. I have a personal connection to Ireland, as several of my great-grandparents immigrated from there, but that was not the main reason I was interested in traveling there. Ireland also has a history that fascinates me, as I am interested to see the lingering effects of colonialism and learn more about the famine, the several wars for independence, and the Troubles, which personally effected my family. I have heard many good things about Dublin from friends and family who have traveled there previously, so I am excited to explore the city.
