From Textbooks to Textile Talks: My Time In London

Hello! My name is Jullian Lorenzo and I am a rising Junior majoring in Global Management and Supply Chain Management. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be participating in the University of Pittsburgh’s GBI Program in London this summer! For six weeks, I’ll be immersed in the vibrant city, taking two classes and gaining practical experience through an internship at Hayley Menzies, a luxury women’s clothing store. I’m really excited about this opportunity as I have a passion for fashion and aspire to build a career in the fashion/retail industry!

London stood out as the perfect choice for me. Having never been to England, I was drawn to London’s vibrant and multicultural atmosphere, rich history, and the sheer amount of cultural attractions. Knowing I enjoy big cities, I knew I’d thrive in the fast-paced environment and all the exploration opportunities London has to offer.

My goals for the program are to immerse myself in a new culture, learn how to work cross-culturally in a new environment and gain a deeper understanding of international business practices. The internship at Hayley Menzies will be a fantastic opportunity to put my knowledge into action and gain practical experience. I’m excited to develop my personal and professional network in the international business world while living and learning in this incredible city!

My “Restorative” Clifton Strength positions me perfectly to excel in the London program and will be a valuable asset during my time abroad. By leveraging my problem-solving skills in various contexts and approaching cultural differences with a keen analytical mind, I’m confident this program will be a success, regardless of any hiccups I may encounter along the way!
