Hello, My name is Brady Buonomo and I am a rising senior at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics and a certificate in Sports Management. I am from just south of Pittsburgh. This summer, I chose to go abroad to Australia through Pitt GBI Sydney, with a focus on sports. My main reason for picking this program was due to the opportunity of getting a sports internship. Sports is my passion and ideally where I would like to work in the future, so being able to get a unique experience while abroad was something that I could not pass up on. Being able to have experience in a field that I am passionate about while abroad is something I did not think was possible. Another reason I picked this program is that it is very unique as most of the abroad options offered are in Europe so I liked how this one is different. One of my goals for this program is to gain knowledge and experience about how sports leagues and organizations are run in Australia and compare them to how they are run in the US. Some of my other goals are to meet new people, try new things, and learn how to get comfortable in a place that is new to me. I hope to gain knowledge about the similarities and differences about how businesses operate in Australia compared to the US. I also hope to be able to use my experiences that I have from working in many different sports settings to assist the organization that I am interning with as much as possible. I can use my Clifton Strengths to be successful in this program in many ways. First, my ability to build relationships quickly will be essential in being successful in a program that is only 6 weeks long, so you have to be able to come together as a group quickly. Also, my ability to think strategically will be helpful in planning and making decisions while working in my internship. Being able to break down information in order to try and make the best decision for the group will help me succeed in this program. With these tools that I have acquired from Pitt over the years, I believe I will have a successful and rewarding trip. Overall, I am thankful for this opportunity and excited to get started!
