Hello 🙂 My name is Nicky Chien, and I’m a rising senior majoring in Supply Chain Management and Business Information Systems with a certificate in International Business. I am from Taipei, Taiwan. I am going to be a part of the GBI Sydney program this summer, and I can’t wait for the program to start! I actually participated in the IIP program for two months last summer in Berlin. It was a fun experience that I got to meet so many people during the program and also got to work at an insulation company where I gained so many practical skills that I still use to this day. I believe this summer in Sydney will also bring me the same but different exciting memories!

I chose GBI Sydney because I always wanted to visit Sydney after I traveled to Melbourne to visit my sister who’s getting her master’s there. I just loved the vibes, the people, and the culture in Australia that I had to go back! I am particularly interested in spending time in Sydney because it’s such an international city. I think by doing this program with a part-time internship in the city would be a valuable experience in working in a diverse workforce and interacting with people from different cultures in a more professional setting. I only heard good things about Sydney, and I can’t wait to spend 6 weeks studying and working in such a beautiful city! I’m planning on taking an urban studies class and will also be working as a supply chain intern at Our Big Kitchen. I hope to learn about the city of Sydney more through my class and gain practical experience streamlining the supply chain during my internship. 

Today is the day that I leave for Sydney, and I’m so excited to hop on the plane and start my journey. I will be blogging my experience all along, so stay tuned : )
