Forever Minding the Gap

Reflecting on my time abroad in London, I am grateful for the experiences, friends, professors, and opportunities that I have been able to encounter. From exploring iconic landmarks to immersing myself in the city’s diverse culture, every moment has been a stepping stone towards personal growth and discovery. The bustling streets and vibrant energy welcomed me with open arms and immediately challenged me to step out of my bubble and explore the bounds of my comfort zone. With my few months abroad, I discovered that growth happens when we push ourselves beyond familiar boundaries. Another one of the most profound lessons I learned during my time here is the importance of embracing diversity. From diversity within the learning environment, to cuisine and customs, London has it all.

Studying in London also deepened my appreciation for history and art. Walking through the vast halls of the British Museum or taking multiple trips to thoroughly explore the artifacts within the Victoria and Albert Museum reminded me of the enduring power of human creativity and innovation. Moreover, attending lectures and engaging in discussions with my peers from many different universities expanded my intellectual horizons and challenged me to think critically about the world around me.

My semester abroad in London has been more than just an academic experience; it has been a journey of self-discovery and transformation. While my time here may have come to an end, the lessons I’ve learned and the connections I’ve made will stay with me for a lifetime. Transitioning back into the normalcy of life in America, may be an initial shock again, but I cannot wait to utilize and expand upon the skills and lessons I have learned in my time abroad.

London, with its timeless charm and indomitable spirit, has left an indelible mark on my heart, reminding me that the world is vast and full of possibilities waiting to be explored. As I take on the next chapter of my life, I will continue to do so with gratitude for the lessons learned and excitement for the adventures yet to come. I hope everyone who has the opportunity to take a semester and study abroad does so, because I can not recommend it more. This opportunity only comes around once in a lifetime, so take it now and make memories that will propel you to be the best version of yourself in all future endeavors!

Farewell London!
