The Startup Industry in Paris

In Paris, I am working in the private sector, in a startup studio. Startups are entrepreneurs or smaller companies that are looking to gain traction in the business world. Eclosion, the company I work for, helps provide these startups with funding, marketing, and growth resources to help them reach their goals in the Parisian and French community.

To be successful in this industry, communication and organization are crucial. This industry involves a lot of communication, whether it be between the studio and potential entrepreneurs and vice versa, or interactions with the community to market the new projects the studio is presenting. Because of this, having good interpersonal and professional communication skills is essential. Organization is also important, as there are a lot of moving parts involved with helping a startup gain tractions. Being able to keep track of every different project and what needs to be completed for each one is necessary for success.

In France specifically, it is important to be patient. In the United States, our professional sector has an “A to Z” mindset. If something is brought up, it is likely to be approved and started on immediately, with the mindset that any discrepancies or issues will be handled as they come. In France, on the other hand, they think about every possible solution before agreeing to do something. Discussions may take more time before a project is agreed upon. As a result, being able to remain patient and engaged until a decision is reached is important for success in this industry.
