Week three was another good week. I’m getting more comfortable in my internship position which has been nice. I’m still enjoying it decent bit. The work I’m doing isn’t what I would call exactly exciting but it does keep me occupied for the day. I do not at all like just sitting there doing nothing I like to keep busy with something. I’ve mostly been doing data entry and updating. One of the things I did during the week was that I went through their travel receipts from the last few years and my job was to make an Excel sheet on the receipts that were not yet digitized and uploaded into the system. I categorized them by employee, year, month, and the amount of the receipts. Most of what I do involves Excel, but good thing I know how to use it. I also just did basic data entry and uploading files into their system’s cloud so that everything is in one place.
This weekend was also a fun time. On Saturday, me and some of my friends decided to go walk around the city for a bit. We went to Dublin Castle, and then after that we went and got food. I got to try WowBurger for the first time which was pretty good. Another great food place was this restaurant called Reyna’s. Friday night me and my friends went there and we all got kebabs. They were amazing. Highly recommend to anyone to go there and try it. On Saturday we went on another trip, this time to the Poolberg Lighthouse. My one friend has been wanting to go to this lighthouse since the beginning of our time here, and last time they tried to go it didn’t go very well. The bus they were supposed to take just didn’t run that day and they were out of luck, so we all went again yesterday. We took the bus to a part of the city called Irishtown, and then from there we got a taxi to the lighthouse, the bus wouldn’t take you to the lighthouse the route didn’t run that far. To get to the lighthouse you walked down a long pier which was nice, it was a really cool view of the surrounding area from there and it was nice to be near the water. We got to the lighthouse and chilled there for a while, took some pictures. Then on the way back we decided to walk along the beach. That was really nice, and the tide was really low at the time so you could walk really far out on the sand. We walked on the beach for a bit and then realized we needed to some how get off the beach so that we could get back to the bus stop. We found a path up to the road, and from there we followed this nature path back to the bus stop. That was also a really cool walk because there were some really good views of the water and the town. It did start to rain a bit on the walk back, but it wasn’t too bad and we all got back to the bus relatively dry. It was a fun time and a good way to cap off the weekend. This coming weekend, we are all going to Amsterdam which I am really excited for. I talked to my coworkers about it and they all said that Amsterdam is a must see and that it is really something that you have to do while you’re here. The flight and hostel have both been booked and were all ready to go. So I have that to look forward to.

When it comes to ambiguity in the workplace, I think that the best thing that you can really do is just ask and make sure what you’re doing is what they want to do. Both of my supervisors are very nice and are always willing to answer whatever questions I have. At one point while I was doing some data entry, I wasn’t sure what file to save a receipt under. So I just asked to make sure I was doing it right, and everything went smoothly. Luckily I really haven’t had many unclear situations during my internship so far. When I did, like I mentioned, I just asked for clarification and that was it, went very easily. I hope that it stays that way and that I can keep doing some good work for my company.
