Hi everyone, I’m back again! For a little update, last weekend I visited Dublin for two nights and this past weekend I went to Kensington Gardens, the National Gallery, and explored Marylebone. With only two more weeks left, I’ve been reflecting on my time in London very thoughtfully. During my internship here, the soft skills I have been developing have been immense, mostly being communication and adaptability. Working in a diverse and dynamic team environment has significantly enhanced my communication skills. For example, I often participate in team meetings where clear and concise communication is essential. I’ve learned to articulate my ideas effectively and listen actively to my colleagues, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and that our projects run smoothly. The fast-paced nature of the internship has required me to be highly adaptable. An instance of this is when we faced an unexpected change in project scope due to a client’s new requirements. I had to quickly adjust my priorities and reallocate resources to meet the new deadlines. This experience taught me to remain flexible, think on my feet, and manage stress effectively, which are crucial skills in any professional setting. I’ve also been able to develop my technical skills. I have been working extensively with data, using tools such as Excel and SQL to analyze large datasets. For instance, I recently completed a project where I analyzed financial statements to identify trends and insights. This involved cleaning the data and creating visualizations to present my findings to the team. By honing these technical skills, I am becoming more competent in handling complex tasks and contributing effectively to my team’s objectives. Since this is my first internship, I have been able to understand more and more what it is like working in a professional setting and adapting to the lifestyle. Having a 9-5 schedule is not something I’ve experienced before, and it feels much different from being at university. Being able to adapt to a different culture while doing an internship has been extremely fulfilling. I’ve been able to broaden my horizons and expose myself to different perspectives, which has exponentially increased my personal growth. As a business student, it has also increased my connections which could be useful in the future. Constantly having new experiences right in front of my face is something I will never take for granted and I am so pleased with my last four weeks, and I cannot wait for what the next two weeks have in-store.
