Being in London was overall an amazing experience. Not only was the city a perfect location for me to pursue my international studies, it was filled with unforgettable memories and unforgettable people.
Studying abroad allowed me to realize how much I have changed as an individual. Being in London has opened me up to so many opportunities to really be open to new and exciting experiences; I learned to say yes to more things that I would not normally do and that has given me something to bring back with me– a global experience where I am accepting of anything because I can view it from a different point of view. Small examples of this that I can think of off the top of my head are taking long peaceful walks anywhere because of how walkable London is, living a quaint life such as hand drying clothes or living without AC, and a love of panna cotta (even though it’s Italian).
Academically, I have learned to be extremely thorough with my work. Because of the intensive course I took, I needed to research in-depth and articulate my findings with precision. I needed to be exact with my references and explain everything in detail. I want the effort that I have put into my work this summer to be reflected in my future work.
In my professional life, I worked on my communication, organization, and patience. Learning how to communicate professionally in a business environment was something I looked forward to and in these six weeks, I definitely gained the experience and practice. I also learned about the detailed organization of everything so that businesses run as efficiently as possible. Lastly, both these skills come with patience. With all these in mind, I can say that I learned many things that will prove useful in my professional life.
