A Very Successful Trip

I can’t believe that I am waking up in New York and not Prague. Living in the Czech Republic offered such a unique blend of historical charm and modern convenience, making it such an exciting destination for both life and work. As an intern at Move To Prague, I had the privilege of experiencing Czech culture firsthand while gaining valuable insights into what defines professional success in this vibrant country. Seeing, and feeling this success firsthand showed me many more differences that lie between Czech and American culture.

In the Czech Republic, professional success is often viewed through expertise, reliability, and a balanced work-life approach. The culture places a strong emphasis on the quality of work and the ability to deliver consistent, reliable results. Professional success in Prague isn’t just about climbing the corporate ladder; it’s about being a dependable and competent team player who contributes to the organization’s goals. Within my internship, taking on important roles and being an important member of the team while also measuring up to this definition of success was an extremely valuable experience.

Within the workplace, Czech professionals value punctuality and reliability. Being on time for meetings and consistently meeting deadlines are seen as fundamental traits of a successful employee. This reliability builds trust and respect within the team and with clients. I have always credited myself on my punctuality, so being able to show these qualities, and strengthen them allowed me to be very successful.

Aswell as this, the Czech work culture appreciates a high level of expertise and a commitment to continuous learning. You are encouraged to stay updated with industry trends and to enhance their skills through ongoing education and training. Within my internship I was constantly learning, whether that has been through the other interns or through the employees at Move To Prague. This continuous learning was a major key in my success.

Unlike some cultures that prioritize long working hours, the Czech Republic values a balanced approach to work and personal life. A successful employee is one who can effectively manage their workload while also making time for family, friends, and personal interests. This was demonstrated greatly within my internship. After work, my colleagues and I would often hang out together. We really enjoyed this outdoor market and would often go grab food all together after the work day.

Teamwork and collaboration are highly valued in the Czech workplace. Successful employees are those who can work well with others, contribute to a positive team environment, and support their colleagues. At Move To Prague there was a lot of teamwork. There were many other interns and throughout the day we would work all together to complete the daily tasks.

At Move To Prague, these cultural values are deeply ingrained in the company. As an intern, I observed and experienced how these principles play out in a real-world setting.Taking the initiative and being proactive are highly regarded traits. Being able to identify tasks that need attention and taking steps to address them without constant supervision is key to success. Given the dynamic nature of marketing for relocation services, adaptability is crucial. Successful interns are those who can quickly learn and adapt to new information, tools, and procedures.

Working in an international setting requires a high level of cultural sensitivity and awareness. Understanding and respecting different cultural backgrounds is essential for providing exceptional service to clients from around the world.

Coming from a country where success is often measured by rapid career advancement and long working hours, the Czech approach offers a refreshing contrast. Here, success is more holistically defined, with an emphasis on reliability, expertise, and a balanced lifestyle. This cultural difference has taught me the importance of valuing quality over quantity and the benefits of maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

In my home country, long working hours are often seen as a sign of dedication and ambition. In the Czech Republic, however, working efficiently within regular hours and maintaining personal time is more appreciated. Collaboration is important in both cultures, but the Czech emphasis on a harmonious and supportive team environment is particularly strong. There’s a greater focus on collective success rather than individual competition. Continuous learning is valued in both contexts, but the Czech approach is more about steady, ongoing improvement rather than aggressive, fast-paced career growth.

Living and interning in the Czech Republic has been an enriching experience, providing me with valuable insights into a different professional culture. At Move To Prague, I’ve learned that success isn’t just about individual achievement but also about reliability, continuous learning, and maintaining a balanced life. These lessons have not only shaped my internship experience but will undoubtedly influence my future professional endeavors.
