First Week In Florence!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Lizzie Sununu I am a junior at Pitt studying Finance and Marketing in the business school. This semester I am excited to be studying in Florence. I chose to study abroad here because it provides me with the opportunity to explore a beautiful city in Italy and surrounding cities, as well as lots of interesting parts of history to explore. I am particularly excited to study in Florence because of the art history aspect of this city. I look forward to taking an art history class alongside my major classes in international finance and international marketing.

My main goals for this semester are to enjoy my time here and get to know the city as best I can. I hope to immerse myself in the culture here and learn a lot from my classes. I want to take full advantage of the opportunities I have here and grow a great appreciation of this city. I think there is so much to see and learn about Florence and my goal is to learn as much as I can.

So far, I have noticed a few similarities and differences between classes at Pitt and classes at Cea Capa. One of the most noticeable differences for me has been the class schedule. I personally have three 3-hour classes, one each day, once a week, and Italian three times a week. Although the classes are longer, it allows us to cover a lot of topics and have a chance to see the city and relate it back to class topics. I find my classes here so interesting and I also think that I have a lot more free time here than I do at Pitt. Which I also think is nice because it allows us to explore our environment around us.

I am living in an apartment here with seven roommates. Our location is really nice; it is right by the square of the Santa Maria Novella. We love to walk to gelato at night and see everyone out and about in the square. Our apartment is pretty close to the Levi Center, where some of our classes are, and a little farther from the Galli Tassi Center, where our other classes are. We have also really enjoyed going on runs by the river and going to the park down the road.

So far, I have been adapting pretty well, and I am excited to see what the rest of the semester has in store.
