Hi! My name is Sarah Posner. I’m a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh College of Business Administration with an intended major in marketing. Originally from Rockaway, New Jersey, I grew up living on a lake, where I spent my days kayaking, playing volleyball, and enjoying barbecue dinners outdoors with my family and friends. Being the oldest of four, I’ve always had a special bond with my younger siblings, and they hold a special place in my heart. I transitioned into Pitt’s business school after spending my first year in the School of Arts and Sciences, as I realized my passion for blending creativity with business. I’m excited to pursue a career in marketing, where I can combine both my creative and strategic sides to make a meaningful impact on businesses.

When I’m not in class, I’m keeping busy with a few different extracurriculars. I’ve been involved in Smart Women Securities, an all-women’s investment club. It’s been such an awesome experience learning about the stock market and how to develop investment strategies. As a marketing major, this club has helped me expand my understanding of finance, making me more well-rounded and prepared for the financial side of marketing. I’m a part of the Pitt Dance Ensemble, and a social sorority. I also recently joined a business fraternity to expand my professional network and gain more insights into the business world. I’m really excited to continue learning and growing in all of these roles!  

I’m working as an E-Commerce Marketing Intern for University Tee’s, a company that specializes in Greek apparel. Right now, I’m helping curate and market the entire spring collection, which has been a really fun and rewarding experience. This internship has given me hands-on experience with digital content creation and marketing strategies, and it’s taught me a lot about the value of teamwork and collaboration. Along with my internship, I work part-time at Janie and Jack, a kids’ clothing store. This job has actually sparked a new interest for me in sales.

On top of everything, I’m someone who absolutely loves to travel and immerse myself in new cultures. Whether it’s trying new foods or learning part of a new language I’m always up for a unique experience. Travel is one of the best ways to expand your worldview and gain a deeper understanding of others. It challenges you to step outside your comfort zone in ways you wouldn’t in a classroom. This is exactly why I’m so excited for the opportunity to participate in this Service Learning Program in Puerto Rico! Not only will I get to engage with the vibrant culture, but I’ll also be able to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to help the local community in a meaningful way.

Working with my group so far has been such an enjoyable experience! We’ve had the chance to collaborate and brainstorm with each other, and build a strong relationship with our client. Now, I’m ready to head to Puerto Rico and witness all of our hard work take shape in person. I’m looking forward to putting my skills to use in a professional setting while learning from the residents and community leaders in Puerto Rico. I can’t wait to engage fully in this experience, and leave with a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities that nonprofits face. I’m beyond excited to see how this journey will continue, and I can’t wait to see everyone’s final deliverables!
