In Florence, I am the marketing intern at Tiche Clothing. Tiche is a small sustainable fashion brand. Tiche is a small company with only one location in Florence, but also has options to purchase online. Due to this, promotion on social media is very important. Tiche is so small because everything is designed and handmade by its owner. Unused material is purchased and upcycled, then created into handmade one of a kind pieces.
My roles included taking photographs, creating content for social media, organizing pop ups and promotional events, and updating the company’s website. Within my internship I need to have good organizational skills, and time management skills. A lot of internship work is done on my own time and I am also balancing it with a semester of classes, so these skills are crucial. I have to balance my time to fit in time within the office, in my classes, and working on internship work and school work outside of the office and classroom.
By applying my Clifton Strengths, I can excel in this role by using strategic thinking to develop innovative content, promotions, and campaigns, applying adaptability to stay ahead in the ever-changing social media environment, leveraging communication strengths to create compelling brand messaging and collaborate effectively with my supervisor and clients, and using analytical strengths to measure content effectiveness and refine my marketing ideas and strategies. Within my internship, collaboration is key, as marketing works closely with all aspects of the company in order to ensure brand consistency. Additionally, social media plays a massive role in engagement, requiring responsiveness to customer feedback, and learning how my supervisor would like things done.
The work environment is creative yet structured, where producing the best work I can and staying adaptable are crucial for success. However, I am responsible for creating this structure. As Tiche is a smaller company, it’s only my supervisor and I. The environment is casual, and we are very collaborative and often brainstorm and bounce ideas off each other. This allows for very open communication, as well as a fun and caring work environment. I have really enjoyed the first few weeks at Tiche, and haven’t felt it to be difficult to balance with school. I am really enjoying my classes and taking what I am learning in them, and applying it to my time at Tiche. I am excited to develop my skills further and leave this experience as a better person than when I arrived!
