Cheers, London

As I wrap up the best semester abroad in London, I want to thank and express my sincere gratitude to my scholarship donor for making this life-changing opportunity possible. Studying, working, and living in one of the world’s most dynamic cities has been an incredible experience. It has contributed to my personal, academic, and professional growth in more ways than I ever expected.

Personally, this journey has challenged me to step out of my comfort zone. Living thousands of miles from my home, family, and friends has been a challenge I have not faced before. From navigating a new city and public transport system to building new and valuable relationships with people worldwide, I have become more independent, confident, and open-minded. The diverse city of London has shown me a variety of cultures to help me grow into a more empathetic and globally aware person. Working in an office space that is different than back in the states was a little difficult at first to adjust to, however, having a supportive and welcoming team at Rays of Sunshine has made it worth it.

Academically, studying in London allowed me to explore international business through a new perspective. I was able to learn from professors with extensive experience and engage in discussions with peers from various academic backgrounds. Additionally, being able to participate in field studies has also allowed me to learn more about the British culture and the city of Loddon. This further brought classroom concepts to life.

Professionally, I have developed cross-cultural communication and problem-solving skills that will benefit me in any future career. Being in London, a hub og global businesses, has inspired me to pursue international opportunities after graduation. I feel more prepared and motivated to work in diverse environments, whether that means working/living abroad or joining a multinational organization.

One major takeaway from this program is the importance of adaptability and cultural awareness in any aspect. Moving to a different country was difficult, however, I was able to adapt to the British lifestyle, as it is important to understand other cultures. I also plan to bring this global perspective back to Pitt Business by engaging in more globally focused student organizations and encouraging others to explore study abroad opportunities.

I will forever be grateful for this experience – for all the memories and friends I made, but also for the personal growth it has brought me. Thank you again for helping make this unforgettable journey possible.
