Bonjour tout le monde!

Welcome to my blog—I’m so excited you’re here!

Hi everyone! I’m extremely excited to start this blog and share my adventures with you. It’s going to be a busy (and awesome) summer!

Starting with a quick intro—my name is Hailey Krawczyk, and I’m from the South Hills of Pittsburgh. I would consider myself somewhat of a Pittsburgh expert, as I’ve lived here my entire life and currently go to the University of Pittsburgh. If anyone needs recommendations for food spots, fun activities, or hidden gems, I’m your girl!

Since I’ve stayed in Pittsburgh for most of my life, I’m more than ready to hit the road and discover new places this summer. In my free time, I love anything outdoors— taking walks, playing tennis, doing yoga, picnicking… if it involves fresh air, I’m there! I also enjoy thrifting with friends, going to concerts, cooking, collecting vinyl records (expensive, but worth it), and anything related to fashion.

In short, I’d describe myself as a creative and adventurous person, but one who’s also totally fine watching movies with friends all day.

My Life at Pitt

I’m an incoming senior at the University of Pittsburgh and will be graduating a semester early this December (thanks to my summer program, of course). I honestly can’t believe my undergraduate at Pitt is almost over—I’m really going to miss it.

I’m currently majoring in Marketing, minoring in French, and pursuing a certificate in International Business. Over the years, I’ve had some amazing professors and classes, but my absolute favorite was this past spring: International Projects in Marketing.

In this class of about ten students, we spent the semester consulting for a B2B international energy company that was launching a first-of-its-kind software product. I conducted extensive research on the product and company, crafted multiple presentations, and developed a go-to-market strategy and communications plan.

This class was incredibly beneficial—it taught me real-world marketing skills, especially in an international context, and showed us how to collaborate with a small, tight-knit team. It ended up being the most hands-on experience I’ve had at Pitt and gave me valuable insight into the B2B marketing world—something I didn’t know I wanted to pursue until this year!

Looking Ahead: My Career Goals

So, how does this all tie into my future? After graduation, I hope to work for an international fashion or beauty company in a creative marketing role.

What I love most about marketing is the creative freedom it gives me. I enjoy expressing myself through visual deliverables and developing marketing tactics that not only serve the company’s goals but also resonate with customers. At my future company, I hope to consult on projects, advise on marketing materials, and use my creativity to market products in a way that’s fun, reliable, and innovative.

That’s exactly why I’m drawn to the beauty and fashion industries—there’s so much room for experimentation and imagination in how you communicate a brand to its audience. I also dream of working abroad, ideally in France or for a French company. Using my French in a professional context, connecting with international colleagues and clients, and expanding both my personal and professional network are all major goals for me.

Hopefully, this summer’s internship will give me a real taste of beauty marketing—and help me figure out if I’m on the right path!

Paris, Here I come!

So, onto the exciting part: this summer, I’ll be embarking on an international journey to Paris through Pitt’s International Internship Program! For eight weeks, I’ll be interning at D-LAB Nutricosmetics in their marketing department.

I’ll be working on marketing strategy, communicating with clients, packaging orders, and translating marketing materials into English to support their expansion across Europe. I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity because it brings together all of my interests: beauty, B2B marketing, French, and international business.

Naturally, I have some nerves about things like the language barrier, adjusting to a new environment, and the general pressure that comes with starting a new job. But overall, I’m determined to get the most out of this experience. I want to grow my collaboration and communication skills—especially in everyday French with my coworkers—and learn more about how B2B marketing in the beauty industry works abroad.

I’m also hoping to see how French firms operate compared to similar-sized American companies, and how cultural differences shape marketing strategies.

Embracing the Experience

Beyond the professional side of things, I also want to expand my social network and meet people from all kinds of backgrounds. Living in Paris means I’ll be surrounded by culture, history, history, art, fashion, and of course, amazing food. I’m ready to learn as much as I can simply by walking through the city, riding the metro, or dining out with coworkers and friends.

I want to open myself up to every part of this experience—new people, new routines, new customs, new languages… everything. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the world and discover how I fit into it.

Overall, this internship will teach me so much about international marketing in the beauty world and give me real-world experience in the kind of career I hope to pursue after graduation.

Until Next Time…

That’s all from me for now! The next time you hear from me, I’ll be blogging from my penthouse in Paris! (More like from my bed at midnight. But her, it’s Paris—I have to romanticize a little!)

I should probably watch Emily in Paris before I go, because lately, everyone’s been comparing me to her (marketing in Paris and all that). Hopefully, the Parisians will welcome me with open arms… unlike Emily, I actually speak French, so I’m already halfway there!

Lastly, a huge thank you to my scholarship donor and my amazing parents in allowing me to do this program! All the love!

Au revoir tout le monde! À très vite!
